Lisbon has an increasing number of coworking spaces – and they’re getting more stylish. You’ll be working there before you know it. There are many reasons to choose a coworking space as your office. The desire to work independently, the possibility of working remotely, or the search for synergies are some of them. In recent years, very stylish spaces have emerged in Lisbon for all tastes and professions. Here, people and companies can share knowledge and be part of a community focused on mutual help and creativity. Here are our suggestions for some of the coworking spaces in the city:
Ateliers da Penha Some happy marriages result from unlikely combinations – such is the case with Ateliers da Penha, a coworking space that comes with production and creation workshops. Located in Penha de França, they’re open to architects, designers, sculptors, carpenters, artisans, and artists. There’s a multipurpose room for everyone to use, which even includes a ping-pong table. Right next to it is a smaller room with long desks and chairs: these are individual workspaces at a collective table – the true meaning of coworking, with 24/7 access, for €100 (+VAT/month). There are also workshops with desks and storage, for €260 (+VAT/month), and studios with or without production area, for €400 to €500 (+VAT/month).
Ávila Spaces In this, Portugal’s most awarded coworking space, there are always events, themed breakfasts, or workshops happening. Meanwhile, people work, of course, on Avenida da República, in Parque das Nações, or in the Atrium Saldanha Building, in comfort and in a sophisticated, modern environment. All members have access to the kitchen and free networking workshops and events, but prices vary according to the plan, ranging from basic (€200-220 +VAT/month), with a workstation in the lounge; to the premium option (€400-440 +VAT/month), with desk, drawer unit, locker, and various extra amenities, such as telephone answering with exclusive line, meeting rooms, and logo at the entrance.
Eli&Co You know those inspiring workspace images you find on the internet but think are never real? Well, Eli&Co made that visual utopia happen and opened a coworking space with private offices, modular offices, two meeting rooms, and other common areas, such as kitchen and balcony. Monthly fees start at €100 (+VAT), with meeting rooms available for €15/hour (+VAT). There are also daily and weekly passes at €9 and €40 (+VAT), respectively. hALL Forget office hours spent in front of the computer. Here, people use aprons, buckets, and brushes. Diana Marques is 26 years old and opened hALL just before the pandemic locked everyone at home. After lockdown, the first tenants arrived here eager to get their hands dirty and especially desperate for a workspace outside home. There are ceramicists, designers, painters, and architects. Some come full-time, others choose to appear only a few days per month. Together they make this a versatile house: there are workshops, Portuguese brand markets, charity sales, and even photo shoots that take advantage of the space’s style. Monthly fee is upon request, but a single day costs €25 for up to 8 hours, and €15 for up to four.
