Published: November 29, 2024

Microsoft Portugal will bring together, this Thursday, February 23, more than 60 founders of startups and entrepreneurs at its offices in Parque das Nações, Lisbon. The initiative aims to promote the sharing of experiences among participants and employees of the technology company in Portugal.

The event is part of the “Coworking Thursdays”. It is an initiative of 351 Associação Portuguesa de Startups, Made of Lisboa, alphaCoimba, Acredita Portugal, CMX Connect Portugal, Grow Remote, Croissant, CreativeMornings Lisbon, Startup Grind Lisbon, Lisbon Digital Nomads and Nomadx.

The next Coworking Thursdays takes place on February 23

It is, therefore, an initiative aimed at remote workers and digital nomads looking for a coworking space. Microsoft Portugal will open the doors of its facilities to startups that want to work from its office.

To participate in this initiative, the startup and entrepreneur communities must register on site (registration opens at 1pm on February 20). The activity, with limited vacancies, is free and will take place from 9am to 6pm.

Microsoft Reinforces its Commitment to the Flexible Working Model
For Microsoft, the future of work is hybrid. Even before the pandemic, the technology’s employees could choose the work regime that was most convenient for them, whether it be from home, remote work or the offices.

An approach that, according to data from the Work Trend Index 2022, is here to stay, with 52% of respondents saying they are likely to switch to hybrid or remote work starting this year.

In fact, with remote and hybrid working on the rise, last year one in seven jobs in the US offered the option of remote working. In fact, by March 2020, only one in 67 offered this option.

Technology continues to drive the entrepreneurship ecosystem

Since 2018, Microsoft has been helping to boost the entrepreneurship ecosystem globally. It does so through Microsoft for Startups. The initiative, which enables the acceleration of thousands of technology startups, leveraging a global partner network, is currently present in 140 countries, including Portugal.

Between 2020 and 2022 alone, under the Memorandum of Understanding established with the Portuguese Government, Microsoft implemented two business acceleration programs (“Fintech 365” and “Portugal SES”). Programs that generated 11 business opportunities between customers and national and international startups.

The initiative “Portugal from Startup to Startup”, in partnership with Startup Portugal and Beta-i, has already represented an investment of more than 750 thousand dollars in Azure Credits.

We recall that this initiative was launched in March 2022. The Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub is a program that aims to support startups through technical and commercial resources that help accelerate their sustainable expansion.

Currently, more than 150 Portuguese startups are already part of this program. Also in the last year, and aiming to boost knowledge sharing among the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

For this reason, Microsoft was present in reference events such as the Web Summit. An event in which it gave a stage to 20 startups from its Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub program, and in Building The Future, through the Startup World initiative.
