Workers in Portugal work 4 hours per week more than the European average, but the average pay does not reflect this, being well below the EU27 average.

In 2022, the average weekly hours in the European Union was 31, while in Portugal it was 35.

According to Pordata data, on the other hand, the average annual pay in PP’S in the European Union was 40,510, while the Portuguese average was only 29,809.

When it comes to countries where more hours are worked, Poland tops the list, with an average of 39.1 hours per week, followed by Greece, Malta, Latvia and Estonia.
